STA composite goals list

STA short term goals:
1. Rebuild the foundation of the STA
2. Initialize a solid committee with portfolio heads that can accomplish all tasks of their relevant portfolios
3. Development of Zone 1 – Meadowlands
4. Development of a programme that will run through Zones of Soweto building knowledge of sport and increasing our provincial base
5. Follow through on portfolio growth and goal achievement
STA medium term goals:
1. Attain sponsorship for Junior IPT (Inter Provincial Tournament)
2. Send teams to compete at this tournament
3. Ensure development has begun and courses are on offer for coaches and players and refs
4. Ensure all portfolios are functioning fully
5. Move to next zone
STA long term goals:
1. Attain sponsorship for STA and maintain sponsorship
2. Maintain a development scheme throughout Soweto
3. Institute a Sowetan Touch Rugby league (funding to help STA)
4. Aims for the next Provincial tournament (Seniors and Juniors)
5. Ensure continuation of portfolios and continuous growth of STA

Player Code Of Conduct

  • Participate for my own enjoyment and not to please parents and coaches.

  • Learn and abide by the laws and rules of the game, as well as any competition rules and will strive to play in spirit of the game.

  • Compete fairly and emphasize fair play and not winning at all costs

  • Show good sportsmanship at all times.

  • Display high standards of behaviour that promote a positive image for the game and my province.

  • Set a positive example for others, particularly younger players and supporters

  • Exhibit exemplary behaviour and appearance when representing my team on game days, at tournaments and on official tours.

  • Work equally hard for myself as well as for the team. Do my best to try to be a true team player.

  • Never give up when representing my team and will give maximum effort and strive for the best possible performance during a game, even if my team is in a position where the desired result has already been achieved.

  • Make every effort to develop my own sporting abilities, in terms of skill, technique, tactics and stamina.

  • Attend all practices and matches and if cannot I will excuse myself by communicating my valid reasons to the coach. If this is not adhered to know there will be consequences.

  • Co-operate with my coach, team mates and opponents.

  • Abide by the instructions of my Coach and Team Officials, provided they do not contradict the spirit of this Code.

  • Treat all players in my sport the way I like to be treated. Not bully or take unfair advantage of another competitor.

  • Safeguard the physical fitness of opponents and team mates alike, avoid violence and rough play, and help injured opponents.

  • Show due respect towards match officials and their decisions, always accepting their verdict without protest or arguments and will not speak badly of or deride an official.

  • Avoid words or actions which may mislead a Match Official.

  • Be gracious in victory and defeat and accept success and failure equally.

  • Thank officials and opposing teams after every game/match as well as shake their hands.

  • Give my teammates positive inputs and feedback.

  • Refrain from the use of profane, insulting, harassing or otherwise offensive language or behaviour on or off the field. Strive to maintain a sense of dignity at all times as well as self-control while I will especially try to control my temper. Maintain a sense of integrity.

  • Respect and take care of the facilities/equipment whether at a practice session or at a match.

  • Assist coaches with putting away equipment that may have been used for practices/matches.

  • Never advocate or condone the abuse of drugs or other banned substances or methods. Reject corruption, drugs abuse, racism, violence and other dangers to the sport.

  • Denounce those who attempt to discredit the sport. Honour those who defend the sport’s good reputation.

  • Abstain from the use of tobacco products and alcoholic beverages in public when representing my association and will not arrive at a venue intoxicated.

  • Treat everyone fairly and respect the rights, dignity and worth of all people involved in the game regardless of their gender, ability, sexual orientation, cultural background, place of origin, political belief, religion or economic status.

  • Note that any actions taken by myself or involving fellow team mates that are against my constitution mill result in a disciplinary session, and furthermore actions will be taken against me regarding the STA and the South African police department if necessary.
